Nearly everday we hear from more people who are interested in Propel.  As with any organization, there is some curiosity as to how things got started and what are some ways that individuals can take a more active role in the group. 

Propel's initial driving force was the Oshkosh Chamber of  Commerce.  The Chamber was looking to form an organization of young adults in Oshkosh who have a variety of interests in the Oshkosh community; be that professional networking, social interaction, community involvement, etc.  A task group was formed in December of 2003 to gather ideas and determine if there was enough interest to make a go of it.  Of course, there was tremendous interest and excitement!  Many of the members of the task group formed a board of directors, elected officers, and created four standing committees to formalize what would become Propel and give the group its purpose and structure.  This board then introduced our new organization to the community in a March 2004 open meeting.  We found others who were interested in helping and serving on the committees.  Many have responded to that invitation, and it is their excitement and commitment that has allowed Propel to get off to such a great start.  Of course, to those who have just recently heard of Propel or decided to become a member, the fun isn’t over. 

Propel is a very dynamic group.  We encourage you to become involved by attending any of our activities, voicing your ideas and opinions, and serving on one of our committees: Membership, Programs and Public Relations.  If you would like to serve on a committee, please drop us an email at info@PropelOshkosh.com.  If you are interested in taking a leadership position within Propel, the Propel membership will hold elections for board and officer positions in mid 2010.  In any matter, become involved…  Propel has something to offer everyone, and we only grow better with your participation.
